Transparent sclera shell
Transparent sclera shell is a transparent acrylic prosthesis with good representation of a cornea (black of the eye).). This is recommended for patients with cornea opacity. It has merits over the prosthetic contact lens as such that; Can be easily handled by children, when hygiene is considered compared to the prosthetic contact lens.
Patients with keratoconus (steep and rough cornea) can not use the prosthetic contact lens since it doesn’t fit on rough surfaces.
